Television is Not Real Life

“Television is not real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.” Bill Gates

I am not an avid TV or movie watcher - I tend to get bored or irritated with the plot and find myself creating a mental to-do list to prevent my brain from melting.  That being said, Caleb and I typically like to watch a couple shows a week on Hulu as a way to unwind and relax.  I love the option of Hulu because we can skip commercials and this prevents the, "watch whatever is coming on next" habit that causes one to sit in front of a TV all evening.

Caleb and I have both decided that summer television is the worst! There are hardly any shows with a decent plot or entertaining writing.  I think producers must think that since kids are out of school, they can air a bunch of mindless mediocricy and call it entertainment.  Needless to say, my future kids will be playing outside and reading books ~ learning to create their own entertainment!

For fall television I am looking forward to the return of:

Grey's Anatomy (I know, I know)

Castle

plus Blue Bloods and The Good Wife

There are a few new shows coming out this fall that look promising:

Unforgettable

Prime Suspect

Person of Interest

  1. It seems like most of the shows you like are action/crime/police/investigation type shows ... aside from Grey's Anatomy, which is mostly just ... soap. :) I'll have to try out a couple of those, plus I really loved Blue Bloods. If you guys are looking to watch a show about a small southern town, real life, with a lot of "real" characters (we've met these people, I know it), I really liked the first couple seasons of Friday Night Lights. And if you're interested in Brit tv, you have to watch Downtown Abbey. It may not be your thing but it is so good! Like reading a novel.
