This Week's Shopping Trip

Typically I go to Publix and hit all of the big sale items and then go to Wal-Mart or Kroger for the rest of my grocery shopping, but lately time has been ultra limited, so last week I did all of my shopping at Publix.  This resulted in my savings being 44%.  I like to get above 50% on all of my shopping, but this trip included some expensive items, like a $6 sub (needed a quick lunch for Caleb and me), 1/2 gallon of organic milk, 1/2 gallon of soy milk, and quite a bit of produce, so I am very happy with 44%!

Here is a picture of my trip - the lighting is terrible, I'm sorry!

I spent $46.46 and saved $36.34.

With this shopping trip, once again I am practicing the buy ahead principle.  Will we eat two boxes of brownies this week? No. Will we eat two boxes of brownies in the next 6 months? Yes.  I paid .50 a box, so it's better for me to buy now than when the craving hits.  This applies to the bagels, Parmesan cheese, salsa and tomato sauce in this picture.  In the past, by practicing the buy ahead principle, I have been able to totally skip grocery shopping some weeks because I have such a surplus!  Just remember, first and foremost you need to stay within the food budget you have set, so if buying ahead is going to put you over your food budget, put it back.

Have a great weekend!
