Frugal Fridays ~ Week of 10/18 Shopping Trip

This past weekend was a perfect example of why menu planning and list making is so key to staying on a budget!  Around Thursday evening, I became overloaded with work tasks that needed to be completed by Friday afternoon and I had out of town guests arriving Friday evening, so I threw a grocery list together and headed out the door. Upon arriving at the store, I realized that I had forgotten several of my coupons, but I didn’t have time to go back, so I just started shopping.  My next mistake was that I stayed on the phone for half of my shopping trip, which meant I wasn’t using a lot of critical thinking in regards to my purchases.  All of this resulted in me having a very “normal” shopping experience.  It’s good for me to have these sometimes though because it reminds me how important planning ahead is!

I ended up spending $30.97 at Wal-Mart (I’m telling you, this is NOT a good deal store) and $33.81 at Publix with a savings of $11.28, which made my savings percentage like 25%.  Yikes!

This week’s shopping has been very simple, because we had some leftovers from the weekend, I’ve been very busy, and we’ve been eating from the stockpile and freezer.  I’ve just run out to get the deals!

CVS

I spent $5.67 for $12 worth of stuff, and got $5 ECB back, so really I paid .67 cents!  That’s a 95% savings. Love CVS!

Publix

I spent $4.38 and saved $7.91! Which is a 64% savings!  If I didn’t HAVE to buy the $4.09 pack of paper, then it would have been more like a 99% savings, but oh well!

Kroger

I spent $1.56 for $17.43 in groceries, which is a 91% savings!

Good thing that I spent so little this week since I spent all of this week's grocery money last weekend! :)   The noodles, potatoes, and Tide are going in my donation box.

How did you do this week?
